The history of One Child Matters began with the arrival and ministry of Mark and Huldah Buntain who came to Kolkata in 1954 and began to work among the poor and the needy. Apart from their various ministries, Mission of Mercy was started by introducing sponsorships to help in the education of the many disadvantaged children in the city.

After his death in 1989, Mission of Mercy, Mission of Mercy came under the leadership of Bethesda Ministries who committed to provide administrative and financial support to the organization.

Soon thereafter, Mission of Mercy began to grow and expand into many different countries around the world, but its focus and vision remains the same - to continue to proclaim the message of the grace and redemption through Jesus Christ while meeting the practical needs of the poor, one child at a time.

Mission of Mercy India was established in the year 2004, with the RegionalOffice fully set up andoperational from 2008.

Today, MOMI is working in 12 states across India, bringing hope, truth, life, love, and mercy to more than 6000 children through child sponsorships.
